 Jacobs ESSSA Diversity Council

The Jacobs ESSSA Diversity Council (JEDC) was formed to advise and recommend strategic direction and policy to management. The Council meets monthly to facilitate Jacobs’ diversity strategic plan, with measurable milestones and appropriate accountability, identify outreach opportunities that align with our core values, and ensure effective communication of diversity initiatives throughout the organization. It is the goal of the Council to create an inclusive environment where employees are given the resources needed to succeed.

 Professional Women's Collaborative

The Jacobs ESSSA Group Professional Women's Collaborative (PWC) is a flexible vehicle to provide women and men with the opportunity to build multi-national networks, develop leadership and technical skills and enhance their careers. Activities are intended to provide networking opportunities, create a support system, build a sense of community and encourage professional development, community involvement and social interaction in order to enhance work performance and personal satisfaction.

 ‭(Hidden)‬ Intern/Co-Op Program

To help address the critical shortage of under-represented students in the fields of science and technology, Jacobs continues to focus on our commitment to provide students with an opportunity to combine work experience and professional development to enhance their formal education. This program provides opportunities for professional development, a stipend, and a mentor relationship with senior leaders within the ESTS Group organization. Over the past three years, 62 students have participated in our Intern/Co-op Program.

 HBCU/MI Collaborative

The Jacobs ESSSA Group joined forces with our corporate leaders and other Jacobs Technology business segments to establish ongoing relationships with targeted schools, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities & Minority Institutions. This collaboration brought representatives to Huntsville from 10 of these institutions across the United States for the First Annual Jacobs Technology, Education and Business Symposium and HBCU/MI Summit July 27-29, 2009. This summit was a forum for knowledge sharing that targets development of educational curriculum, business networking and talent development. The Jacobs ESSSA Group currently has Blanket Order Agreements with several HBCU/MIs which focus our efforts toward mutually beneficial goals and enables rapid tasking. "This activity illustrated how Jacobs is a trail blazer as to how a corporation in the 21st Century should operate," Dr. Norman Munroe, Florida International University

 Targeted Recruitment

Jacobs has an integral role in NASA’s vision to explore beyond Earth’s boundaries, supporting the launch vehicles and propulsion systems of the future. With many employers to choose from, we believe Jacobs and the teammate companies that make up the Jacobs ESSSA Group are the best. Our recruitment efforts help us search for dynamic individuals who can add their unique talents and experiences to our multidimensional team.

The Jacobs ESSSA Group is committed to improving the quality of life and enhancing the vitality of the communities in which we operate. Through our Outreach Programs, we provide support to causes reflecting employee and community interests by the means of employee volunteer efforts, company initiatives, and monetary donations.

Jacobs will fully fund two scholarships each at the University of Alabama-Huntsville and Alabama A&M in the areas of Engineering and Science as part of the company's Aerospace Industries Futures Program. These scholarships encourage enrollment in areas critical to future NASA / MSFC programs and help Jacobs fill the "talent pipeline" locally.
